This movie celebrates blacks and its made of black. I thank my brother Daniel Kaluuya, I would be nothing without him, and this project wouldn’t be without him.

Daniel Kaluuya: Universal music and Motown put this together and I’m so proud to be in it. Thank you for giving us your time and energy in Nigeria.

Mark Byers: Thank you Nigeria, thank you, Melina, for inviting Motown to this journey. I hope you guys enjoy this movie, it’s an incredible story about us.

The movie tells a story of Queen & Slim’s {Daniel Kaluuya} first date that takes an unexpected turn when a policeman pulls them over for a minor traffic violation. When the situation escalates, Slim takes the officer’s gun and shoots him in self-defence. Now labelled cop killers in the media, Slim and Queen feel that they have no choice but to go on the run and evade the law. When a video of the incident goes viral, the unwitting outlaws soon become a symbol of trauma, terror, grief and, pain for people all across the country.

The premiere was held at the Filmhouse Cinema in Lekki, Lagos and put together by Filmhouse and Universal Music Group.
