Powerful individuals stopped me from Lagos APC guber primary – Oluwo

An All Progressives Congress governorship aspirant in Lagos State, Wale Oluwo, says powerful individuals ensured his exclusion from the Thursday’s governorship of the party.

Oluwo, who protested his exclusion from the primary election held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena (former Onikan Stadium), Lagos Island, in a statement said the screening committee of the party connived with powerful individuals in the state to stop him from participating in the process.

The aspirant who is a former Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources and a member of ex-governor Akinwunmi Ambode’s camp in the ruling APC in the state, however assured his supporters that “the will of the people will not be subverted.”

“These discomforted powerful individuals have even gone to great lengths to prevent me from participating in the primary election of today by excluding me in a manner similar to the last Edo State episode, where a sitting governor was denied participation in the internal democracy process of his party,” he said.

Recall that another aspirant, Abdul-Ahmed Mustapha, had earlier alleged that he was also excluded from the Lagos APC governorship primary.

Mustapha, who is a former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Energy and Minerals Resources in Lagos, said the process was anti-democratic.

Mustapha and Oluwo were supposed to contest in the primary for the governorship candidate ticket of the APC in Lagos against the incumbent, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Sanwo-Olu is believed in many quarters to be the anointed candidate of the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
