Millions of cellphone cameras will serve as security watch, Akerodolu launches app

Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, launches a security surveillance app for the state at the passing out parade of Course 3 and 4 Amotekun Corps.

Millions of cellphones will be converted into state security cameras as the states release the security monitoring app, which will aid citizens in reporting bad or poor services in government, institutions, or facilities. This will be a tech-based neighborhood watchman/whistleblower platform where citizens can report a crime in real-time to alert all security agencies for immediate action.

The Governor has stated that the Ondo State security network agency, code-named Amotekun Corps, will be armed in accordance with the law since, in the absence of such, the training would be insufficient and the lives of great patriots would be in danger. He explained that this ground-breaking platform will make sure that Ondo State’s citizens and natives actually become their brothers’ guardians.

The Governor emphasized that his administration will continue to support the operational capability of all security agencies in the state in terms of both equipment and the welfare of their staff. He also said that the passing out ceremony serves as a reminder of the need to develop a plan of action and deal with the current security situation, which he claimed has been allowed to snowball into an existential crisis throughout Nigeria.

Akeredolu said, “The Western Nigeria Security Network, AMOTEKUN CORPS, as a response, is now not just the first line of defense, but the ultimate bulwark in the protection of a way of life and civilization.”

“On our part, we will continue to support the operational capacity of all security agencies in the state both in terms of equipment and the welfare of their personnel.”

The ONDO EYE (Oju Ondo), is coming in at an important time when our state security infrastructure needs all the support and cooperation it can get from residents and indigenes of the state as millions of phones will not serve as surveillance cameras in the state. The platform will be launched and go live at the end of the month. For more information, check out the website at www.ondoeyes.ng.

The passing out parade, which took place at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade, had in attendance, the Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa; members of the Ondo State House of Assembly led by the Speaker, Bamidele Oleyelogun; the Chief Judge of the state represented by the High Court Registrar, Bolatito Ajibade; Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Ade Adetimehin; Commander, Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye; members of the State Executive Council led by Princess Oladunni Odu; traditional rulers; Heads of security agencies; local government chairmen; religious leaders;
