It’s the beginning of a new quarter, whether you are exhausted from checking off the long list of goals you set for the first quarter or you need to recalibrate so you can smash the old goals you are carrying over to the new quarter or you just want to reward your body and mind with relaxation, one of the things you should put under consideration in order to be refreshed and ready to show up as your best self for the rest of the year while maintaining beauty is a spa day.

There is no need to panic as you do not need to step out of your home’s comfort or break the bank to get a spa experience. Here are seven easy steps you can take achieve a rejuvenating and relaxing spa day at home:

Declutter and reorganise your bathroom: The atmosphere of a spa is usually cosy and free from unnecessary clutters of objects, so clear every object that will take up space and clean out unclean surfaces. Organise your favourite scented candles, essential oil diffusers, comfort plants, and humidifiers around your bathtub. Fill your bathtub with warm water, add your favourite bath bomb or soap or gel, then allow it to set.


Set the vibe with music and lights: There is a strong chance that your mind can wander away into thoughts, and leave you with more stress and worry, and this is not the result you want at the end of your spa day, so fill your bathroom with a background song or sound from your speakers. You can find free playlists already curated for spa day on Spotify or simply put on any soft music of your choice like jazz, lofi, reggae, nature music, classical music, or even white noise on YouTube. Then, complete the relaxation vibe by adding some soft light either from your lightbulb, from a lamp or by simply opening up your windows.


Be your own bartender: Make yourself a quick easy drink to quench your thirst. It could be a mocktail, cocktail, champagne, lemonade, good old plain orange juice from a juice box or tea, whatever rocks your boat is perfect.

Change into your comfy lounge wear: As the scent of your candles, oils, bath gel, balances out with your source of lightning, and the soft music in the background, your bathroom’s atmosphere would begin to feel like a spa retreat. This is the best time to get into your lounge wear or your bathrobe and wrap your hair in a warm fluffy towel.

Go on DND: The last thing you want on your spa day is to get interrupted by a notification sound from social media or a spontaneous call from a forgotten Ex (Yes, evil people can sense when you are enjoying your peace and will do anything to disrupt it). So go ahead and turn off all notifications or simply put your phone on do not disturb. Do not bother missing out on anything as you can always call back or reply when your spa day is over.

Engage in a beauty ritual: Whether it is your usual skin care routine or you want to try something new like a bentonite clay hair mask, face mask, manicure, pedicure, gua sha lymphatic massages, dry brushing, scalp massage, moisturising your skin with a new oil, etc

Wash away your stress: Now, with your mood set on the right vibe, the drowsy lighting and music, step into your warm cosy bathtub and soak away into the aromatic goodness of essential oils and bath bombs while sipping your drink.

You can also spice this spa experience by adding rose petals to your tub, bringing in a book to read, listening to a podcast , eating a salad or pizza while soaking in the tub.
