Billionaire businessman and socialite, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, on Wednesday, pleaded not guilty to abusing and tampering with the Naira.
Okechukwu made this plea during his arraignment and trial at the Federal High Court, Lagos.
He was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission before Justice Kehinde Ogundare of the Federal High Court in Lagos on a three-count charge of abuse of Naira by allegedly spraying and tampering with the nation’s currency at a social event, contrary to the provisions of the Central Bank Act of 2007.
EFCC alleged that the Cubana Chief Priest sprayed the Naira on February 13, 2024, at the Eko Hotel, Lagos.
The celebrity businessman was also said to have committed the offences while dancing at a social event.
The anti-graft agency further alleged that the Cubana Chief Priest tampered with funds in the denomination of N500 notes issued by the CBN by continuously spraying the currency notes for two hours.
